Guru Tegh Bahadur College, one of the oldest college in Bhawanigarh, Sub division of District Sangrur, is now a flourishing institute with professional and vocational courses. Due to the efforts of President S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa ji, the college had become Government Aided institute since 1978. The college classes run in Gurudwara Tegh Bahadur Sahib Bhawanigarh from 1978 to 1991, but the college was shifted to a new building after getting economical help from NRI S. Mahima Singh Grewal ji, native of nearby village Sakrudi. The college is recognized under 2(f) & 12 (B) of the UGC ACT 1956. The college has undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce and Computer Sciences stream and PGDCA with emphasis on quality education and high moral values. In the technological era of 21st century, the college extrapolates the need of the hour to impart vocational studies as well as skill development. Hence the college offers B.A and B.Com with vocational subjects as well as B.Voc in Retail Management & IT and Software Development (Courses approved under UGC NSQF).
The college has beautiful landscaped campus in 2 acres with various facilities like common room for girl students, Wi-Fi campus, two Computer Labs and elegant Library. The college organises cultural activities, NSS, Youth Welfare Services and sports for the holistic development of the students. The college understands the challenges that are in store for students in the age of cut throat competition. The Mission of the college is to support students in meeting the challenges that they face and help them to reach their goals.
The mission of the college is to impart holistic education with the aim to make the students of this predominantly rural area, time and market relevant, globally competent, morally upright and socially responsible citizens.
